ABSTRACT:
This 3 page research paper, first of all relates the main tenet of Dollard's frustration-aggression theory for explaining racism, as this theory describes how people displace their frustration over such things as economic problems onto weaker ethnic/racial groups. This discussion is offered in reference to the questions: Are the frustrations of many Americans being unfairly displaced toward certain racial and ethnic groups? Or, have other social groups become the primary targets? The writer then argues that the main focus of the current manifestation of this phenomenon is not on racial/ethnic groups, but is rather on authority figures and the rich, as evidence by the "Occupy" movement.
